The childhood - The beginnings
ierre-August Renoir was born
February 25, 1841 to Limoges.
his modest family, of six children, decides in 1845 to come to Paris in
the hope to find better conditions of work.

At 7 years,
Renoir enters at Christian school Brothers. He joins churses of Saint-Roch church whose master is Charles Gounod. |
enoir already draws very
well and fills his class notebooks of drawings.
uickly, he must contribute
to his family's finances. His parents decide
to withdraw him of the school and at 13 years, he enters in training at Lévys
brothers in a shop of painting on porcelain.
uring
four years, he is going to paint flowers, bunchs, and other ornaments on plates of
porcelain.
n 1858,
processes of mechanical impression take the step on the manual work, the Brothers Lévy
must close and at 17 years, Renoir must look for another work.
e enters then at M Gilbert, he paints some elegant or mythological feasts
to the manner of Watteau on blinds and fans. All as at the Lévys brothers, he is
appréciated by his employer for his remarkable work of decorator, but he thinks about
only one thing:
"one day to become painter "
